Our Solution
South Africa Tracker was launched in November 2009 before the start of the 2010 football World Cup. The concept of the app was the brainchild of Daniel Sanchez one of Mubaloo’s developers when he joined the business. Together with investment from Mubaloo, Daniel designed and developed the app using a software feed from Opta Sports which kept a track of the goals being scored. Due to the high number of potential views of the app on a regular basis the data was hosted by Amazon which allowed the app to scale if necessary. The app quickly proved to be one of the most successful free apps ever with over 2.6 million downloads over 5 months.
Conclusion
The app exceeded expectations. It was the most downloaded World Cup app. At its peak it was being downloaded 50,000 times a day and reached the #1 free sport app in every major European country. Nike were so impressed with the app that they sponsored its advertising across the Asia Pac region.
