Last month, Forrester research published a report titled ‘Demystifying the Mobile Workforce’. The report found that 66 percent of information workers in North America and Europe already work remotely at some point during a month.
This stat combined with employees increasingly wanting to use their own devices in the workplace – or the ‘consumerisation of I.T’. – is enough to cause a headache for any CIO or I.T. department.
Over the past two years though there has been an increase in the number of enterprise-specific mobile app store providers such as Apperian, which interestingly, is a company Apple spun off in 2009, and AppCentral. Both these companies allow organisations to host white-label app stores for distribution to iOS devices, and in the case of AppCentral add support for Android.
