In a recent report titled ‘Best Practices to Select an IoT Beacon Implementation: Google Eddystone Versus Apple iBeacon’ [1], Gartner evaluated the different functionalities offered by the two major types of Bluetooth low energy beaconing solutions so that enterprises can assess which is best suited to their requirements.

Gartner advises that ‘Each beacon architecture has different implementation trade-offs that can affect the desired end-user experience, including the OS of mobile device, the type or version of browser that must be supported on the mobile device, or the need for the user to download a specifically developed mobile application.

Gartner mentioned Mubaloo, a beacon network supplier, as an example of a beacon management platform provider among Aruba Networks, BKON, Cisco and Google, to name a few. JP Luchetti, Mubaloo’s Consultancy Director, commented: “With 3 years of expertise in the implementation of beacon technology, Mubaloo consults with all its clients at the initial planning stage to assess the best possible solution for their beacon technology implementation. From large-scale rail network solutions, covering extended geographical areas, to boutique solutions for indoor retail clients, our aim is to ensure that the beacon technology we implement fully reflects the client’s individual needs.
