its Enterprise Smartphone vendor matrix, placing Samsung in the top spot. Narrowly beating Apple, ABI deemed that Samsung had the best partner network, widest range of devices and solutions for enterprise.
In many ways, this makes perfect sense. Samsung offers hundreds of models and thousands of options that mean there is a device for just about any employee role. For example, just taking the Samsung Galaxy S4 and there are options that would be suited for:
- S4 / S4 Google Edition: Perfect for the CEO or C-level suite thanks to its premium look, large screen, suite of software and accessories (such as the cover which displays a section of the screen for notifications)
- S4 Active: Designed to be durable, water resistant and dustproof. The perfect device for maintenance workers, field teams, construction workers and security teams
- S4 Mini: A lower priced device with a slightly lower spec than the S4. Perfect for a wider range of the corporate team who still need a smartphone, but at a much lower cost
- S4 Zoom: A smartphone-come-camera. This device would be good for project managers, the marketing team and facility teams who would benefit from a better camera on their devices, with a zoom
The S4 is only one of many lines in Samsung’s range of smartphones, phablets, tablets, smartwatches and other devices. It really is no surprise that quantity won out in this study.
Whilst Samsung may have claimed the top spot in the matrix, ABI did point out that in terms of deployments; Apple is the winner. According to ABI, Apple has the highest adoption by business users and are the most activated device within EMM and MDM platforms.
BlackBerry, the former leader of enterprise mobility has now slipped to third place. This was down to drinking sales of its smartphones and continued woes facing the company. Keeping it above Nokia however was its BES and the fact that the company is still considered the ‘gold standard’ for enterprise security.
As in the consumer space, Android and iOS are now the top operating systems. BlackBerry continues to lose marketshare whilst Windows Phone gains. From a Mubaloo perspective, this reflects what we see in terms of what our clients ask for and what they see within their organisations.
