We are very pleased to announce that Mubaloo has been shortlisted for the Making it Mobile 2012 Awards for the Met Office weather app! Our entry was based around the success of the customer engagement the weather app offered since its launch in January:
“The aim of the Met Office’s weather app was to engage customers by presenting them with up-to-date weather information while on-the-go. The app was downloaded over 1m times in its first 2 weeks and during February’s cold weather, was accessed 6.5m times in one weekend. This highlights customer engagement by showing the demand for detailed weather information on-the-go. The app accounted for 40% of the Met Office’s overall web traffic in February, highlighting the importance of providing information to the general public through mobile devices. App downloads to date are 2.6m for iPhone & 600,000 for Android.”
We are up against fifteen very worthy finalists who have all created innovative and exceptional mobile products. These include the Android TapToWifi NFC app created by Blue Butterfly, Quidco, an app that pays people to check into high street shops, and Hailo, the black cab app that allows you to order a taxi and pay for it on your smartphone.
We look forward to meeting the other finalists at the awards ceremony in Bethnal Green, London on November 28th.
