We’re absolutely delighted to announce that Mubaloo and the Met Office went home with a shiny award at last week’s MOMAs! The Met Office app won its award for Public Sector Mobile Strategy.
The Met Office weather app has seen huge amounts of success over 2012 and 2013, with over 6 million downloads in a year and a half since its launch! The weather app now accounts for over half of the Met Office’s overall web traffic, highlighting the huge shift we are seeing from desktop to mobile, and also the demand there is for weather information while people are on the go. We are continually working with the Met Office on ways to improve the app through analytics and user feedback, in order to ensure the app’s 6m users are getting the best experience possible.

We were thrilled to have been joined by Richard, Nikki and Charley from the Met Office, and also Denise McKenzie from the Open Geospatial Consortium. This is the Met Office’s second award win this year, after winning App of the Year at The Sparkies earlier this year, and the app is also a finalist in the Consumer category for the up and coming Mobile Entertainment Awards!
