The UK mobile sector: market opportunities, regulation and spectrum

Timing: Morning, Tuesday, 1st April 2014
Venue: The Caledonian Club, 9 Halkin Street, London SW1X 7DR
We’re very pleased to announce that Mubaloo’s director of mobile strategy, Gemma Coles, will be joining a panel of technology experts at the Westminster eForum mobile event to discuss making the most of mobile connectivity.

With each of the UK’s mobile network operators launching 4G networks by the end of 2014, the seminar will consider the emerging consumer demands, service trends and opportunities for growth in the UK mobile sector. With new context-aware devices and data-heavy content becoming increasingly accessible via mobile, delegates will examine which devices and services are posed to capitalise on innovation in mobile. Planned sessions also focus on the next-step challenges facing the growth of the UK’s superfast mobile networks – particularly in the context of Ofcom’s consultation on its priorities for spectrum management over the next ten years, and the long vaunted “internet of things”, with 5G on the horizon.

mCommerce and making the most of mobile connectivity

  • What is the future potential for the mobile market in the UK particularly in the context of expected increases in consumer use of mCommerce and as organisations increasingly consider the use of mEnterprise and apps to improve efficiency and productivity?
  • What is needed for the UK commercial, regulatory and legal framework to enable growth to be optimised? How well are British companies developing mobile strategies and using mobile devices to deliver cost and efficiency savings ‐ in particular how well are the potential commercial benefits of mobile‐friendly websites, business apps and digital payments understood?
  • What challenges does the coexistence of 3G and 4G networks pose for the development of mCommerce ‐ e.g. how can providers simultaneously deliver the accessible content across high and low speed networks?
  • What is the impact of data usage limits on the development of mobile services and the app economy more widely, and how might issues be addressed?
