For 40 years, Eurocamp has been offering parties of all sizes comprehensive holidays, across 180 European outdoor holiday destinations.

To enhance the customer experience, Eurocamp wanted to provide their customers with a holiday companion that would add value and inspire during their getaway; through the use of insightful information about their destination, as well as a host of useful tools to assist any modern traveller.

Eurocamp chose to work with Mubaloo to create a prototype app to explore how to move beyond providing customers with just a digital brochure, but rather to develop a multifunctional tool to enhance their holiday experience. Eurocamp wanted to explore opportunities for creating a tool that guests could use through the entirety of their Eurocamp experience, from booking to returning home.

Mubaloo ran a user experience workshop with Eurocamp, to produce a prototype to test the concepts and ideas discussed during the workshop.

Eurocamp worked closely with Mubaloo to outline a user journey to identify how the app will be used and what functionality to include. A design prototype was created to showcase the UI and demonstrate the suggested functionality for its customers.

Eurocamp wanted to explore how useful information, such as tourist attractions and parc info, could be stored locally on the device; to provide guests with what they need to enhance their holidays without incurring data roaming charges by having to access the internet. The prototype app provides the following proposed functionality:

  • Parc and local attractions guide with four categories: All attractions, Top five, Places to eat and Places to visit
  • Offline map of the local area: meaning that guests can avoid data roaming charges and have access local information; this will be especially useful for locations with poor network reception
  • Postcard creator: The app was designed to access photos taken on the trip, with the option of creating and sending postcards, branded by Eurocamp, to family and friends
  • Essential holiday tools: including a currency convertor, checklist and ability to store tickets and vouchers


The aim of creating the prototype was to prove the wider Eurocamp team with insight on how mobile could be utilised to improve the visitor experience. The prototype is still being reviewed internally by Eurocamp, with a view to creating a functioning, customer focused app.

As part of its app strategy, Eurocamp also want to provide customers with relevant information after their holiday, to encourage repeat custom. The idea of implementing push notifications, from a third party service, was suggested. This would allow Eurocamp to remind users about the review process, as well as calls to action for their next holiday, based on the data from their last booking.
